its kinda like an appendix. its really just there taking up space. it has a job, but that job is pretty much pointless.

you can remove it and block it off, or you can just leave it there, and you probably won't ever notice.

but if its malfunctioning then remove it and no, you don't have to replace anything other then the vaccuum lines to their appropriate places.
