Hi and thanks for reading.

This is my first post so please be patience,we bought a 1982 Mitsubishi L300 colt pioneer motorhome/caravan about a month ago,so we could tour the UK next year but we are having trouble with it overheating and with the help of our local garage have narrowed it down to the thermostat which has been removed and the van is now running great, but with the winter coming we need to replace the thermostat but are having terrible trouble getting hold of one as the vehicle is so old.

Would i have to find a exact replica of this vehicle's thermostat or could a universal thermostat do the job?

The mechanic who is doing the work says he may have trouble getting one as its so old,

oh ist a manual, petrol and has a 1597cc engine

Any advice would be welcome and if any other info is required let me know.

Thanks Andrew..

Why not go to Mitsubishi? They should have one something else with the same engine may also be the ticket. Tried Halfords?

If its overheating with the stat in then ur radiator needs to be overhauled or replaced i'd say. Engines running cold all the time foul plugs too, so check them.
