This is my issue and ive been trying to figure out of months and ive got nothing.
When I open my passenger side door every time since i got the car the overhead lights come on no problems ever.
When the driver side is opened the lights rarely ever come on.
It works a few times being opened and 99% of the time they just wont come on.
Is there a sensor when the door opens, or a wire that might be messed up? or is it something that no one can answer without having the car

thanks in advance =)

if i remember its built into the latch inside the door i think..
if not there is a button that sticks out of the door jamb and closing the door closes the switch

there is a door switch in the body where you close the door it will push the switch in, you'll see a little rubber cover on it, pull the cover out, should be screw hold it in, undo it, pull the whole switch out, may have alot of rust built up in it,you'll see should has like a spring thingy, as you push the spring in, the dome light goes out, as you release it, the light should come on, ( as like the door is open, it will create a ground so the light will come on) try to clean it with some emery cloth(sand paper) clean all the rust out, and around where it ground to the body, anyway, you got the idea right. after you clean it up, put it back in. hopefully it should be working, goodluck

This is correct. It is on the door jam (on the side towards the rear of the car). You can't really miss it. It's a black rubber thing that sticks out like a sore thumb. Check that the wires are making good contact and there is no corrosion. If both of these check out, then it is time for a new swtich. I believe it is a dealer only item, so check out jnztuning.com. Will be cheapper than dealer, but the same part. If the new switch still doesn't work, then you have a problem with your wiring.
