The guys here at the dealership are installing my new Conti's as I type. I read all the reviews on tirerack and noone really has anything bad to say about them. They really seem to be a great tire especially for the money and the free digital camera they are offering right now. I had them shipped from www.td4l.com for $567 total. (225/45/zr18). If the sidewall is a little soft like was reported on here I will add a little air pressure, but i think we will enjoy the nicer ride. I will let you guys know my experience with them. So far they are taking very little weight and run true on the balance machine. I took a little time in between balancing to wash the inside of the wheels. We only got 22K out of the stock dunlops. Thanks for all the input on here in choosing tires. I also think the slightly larger size will fill the wheel well a little better and look good. Oh and they are 2 lbs lighter (each tire) than the stock dunlops so that is a little less unsprung weight.

Alright well they are installed and I just drove it. They are smooth as glass up to 90 mph! I didn't go any faster than that. I hope they stay that way. I took it through a short windy road and they handle great so far with about 33lbs of nitrogen per tire. two of the wheels only took 1/4-1/2 ounce of weight. The other two took 2- 2 1/4 ounces. However those are the same wheels that took about 3 ounces per wheel in the same spot from the factory with the stock Dunlops. So i'd say it was the wheels and not the tires anyways.

I hope that you read my review on them. I liked them until they developed a vibration issue. My review is on here....just easier to go ahead & read it then to retype everything. Hopefully you won't have any issues....but be aware that they are having problems down the road for a bunch of people.

and i hope u dint pay extra for the useless nitrogen....

Since we know six feet had some probs with these tires and the link below has a review that has goodyear gt's beating the conti in 17 of 18 catagories as well as putting a beating on some kumho's and yoko's, make sure to come back and post your opinion about the conti's after you put a bunch of miles on them. (im going with the goodyears)

I will be sure to let you guys know how they do down the road. So far they are very quiet and smooth. And no, we didn't pay for the nitrogen. The eagle GTs may be great tires. But the dealership's experience with Goodyear in general is not very good. I actually had not even seen those test results you posted. Thats good stuff. However, that test was done last summer before the new Extreme Contact and Extreme Contact DWS came out. My wife put 22K on the car last year so mileage was a big concern and unfortunately all out performance had to take a back seat. I'm also looking forward to how sixfeet does with the Yoko's down the road. It looks like the Eagle GTs have a 400 treadwear number too so they look really impressive mileage wise for less money. I'll look forward to seeing how you like them. Also has anyone noticed the 225 width robbing a smidgen of power?

if u change the width (225) but the tire is the same height no u wont notice any power loss..

the change comes when u have a taller or shorter tire in inches.. this changes your final gear ratio at the tires
that will change your feel depending on how much it changes...


and nice that they give nitrogen for free... most places charge for it and imho its useless

Well i work here so hence the free nitrogen. Thats true that the profile is the same (45) however the profile is relative to the width. So a 225/45 is slightly taller than a 215/45. The continental in 225/45/18 is 26" tall while the Dunlop or a comparative 215/45/18 is 25.7" tall.

Ya before I read about the goodyears, I read a lot of good things about the conti's, especially for snow driving. One common complaints seems to be the soft sidewall, but many people really like them. I'm interested to hear your review on the conti's and when I get my goodyears I'll post my review on them.

NY09, you're eyeing the goodyear GT's, right? I'm eyeing those as well for next year when I change out my yokos.. i'll be looking forward to your review

Well we got 1,000 miles on the new Contis and so far so good. they are still perfectly smooth. Wifey ran over a full tire retread yesterday and took out the left airdam, fog light, and splash tray. I ordered a new set of airdams ( the little front spoiler things on a GTS) for $150, splash tray $40 (thing stretched the width of the car between the bumper and fender liners underneath the car) and plastic welded the tabs back on the foglight. Those parts will be in tuesday. Also my VG shark fin shipped out yesterday and should be here next week too. I'll give another update if they develop any vibrations.

Yup, I'll be getting the goodyears gt's in about 2-3 weeks. The snow shouldn't be here yet so I should be able to really test them out on dry and wet conditions. I'll post my review after I put a few miles on them.

Well i mentioned earlier i would let you know how these tires do after a few miles. with about 2500 miles on them they are still balanced perfectly and smooth as ever up to 100mph +. We are very happy with them so far. I have upped the tire pressure since the handling was not as responsive as the stock dunlops around 30 psi. I am running 36 psi in the front and 34 in the rear with good results.

Good news...keep the reports rollin in. This gives everyone else on here excellent info for when it is time for them to buy new tires.
The more people we have on here writing about the tires they put on the better.
