I need some help - new to forum and hoping this is helpful:

My 2004 Mit Endeavor just had a check engine light come on and I took to auto parts store to borrow scanner. When complete scan error read "Evaporative Emissions System - Small leak detected" error code PO456. Is there an easy and CORRECT way to fix this. I simply don't want the light to turn off. I've already checked the gas cap and this is tight.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

no there is no easy way..
possibly yes the gas cap was loose...

but the code means it detected a leak in the system...which could be anywhere...

but if u clear the code and the light doesnt come back on after a few trips...it may be ok..
otherwise u need too have the system checked by someone with the proper equipment and knowledge of the system
