I'm sure this has been covered off on another thread before, so if anyone can point me to that I would appreciate it.
I have TR Magna 2.6 with chain rattle (I believe). Approx 210 000 km on the clock.
I realise no-one can tell me what the problem is, but is there a typical wear behaviour on this engine that you could take a punt on the cause ie worn guides or stretched chain or fault tensioner and which chain (timing or balance or both)
What's the procedure for checking and adjusting chain tension?
Can this be done without removing timing cover on both chains?
Thanks.

the chain guides wear out on the 4 cyl model

also the cogs wear out due to the chain tensioning system design

at that high a km you need
a timing chain kit with cogs from ebay repco or bursons

or you can go furthur with a balance shaft elimination kit
the motor has to come out for that
and you need a TP motor oil pump

it is easier to do with the motor out to do the timing chains
but some do it with the motor in or drop the motor down to the ground

the chains are self adjusting on the TR motor
but you could try undoing the little plate on the timing cover near the alternator

got more info in this link and pictures
