The 2002 4life L200 I bought ( got stitched up ) from the local car auction, smokes like a train and has a total lack of power.
Have done all the basics, all filters, taken off turbo pipes seems to be plenty of boost, tried blanking off egr no different.
managed to get managment light to come on whilst messing so tried to get independent garage to read and cancel faults but none of them could read the ecu so had to go to main dealer, long story but they suspect ( cant be sure they said) that the solinoid vacum pipes are on wrong.
I have orderd a workshop manual off Ebay in the hope it will have a diagram of the pipes, but could do with it now and posty is on strike.
Can any one help please.
Thanks

A bad turbo will cause this issue. The bearing is gone for the turbine and oil is gettin past the seal and into the turbo exhaust port causing smoke , and also a loss of power. Onlee other issue besides that would be diesel injectors / controller causing the issue of no power and smoking

Well its hard to diagnose with the base of wut yu said. There yud still even have to give detailed info im sure. the answer may not juss come flying out. A diesel smoking and loss of power can be caused by many issues. Bad glow plug controller, Diesel injection controller/ harness . The turbo being partially bad can also cause smoke , it may boost a little but oil could be leaking into the charge air chamber . IAC sensor and deteriated charge air tubing. So its not everyone that has their L200/pajero/Triton etc that is smoking and loss power is caused by the same issue.

The smoke could be really raw diesel , frum oil bypassing into the charge air section of a bad turbo , etc.
