I just did a compleat rebuild of my engine. its been back together for a few days and its running great. Im just monitoring and adjusting this and that still. But the one thing I cant figure out is a whining noise coming from the alternator belt. yes I have tightend and loosend it, and the belt looks and feels in great shape... so Im not worried about anything, but its annoying as hell. any suggestions?

Ive blown components in the head and the gasket three times. This time I decided to give the whole thing an in depth inspection and cleaning and replace anything needing it. Nothing was out of spec. in the block. Ive reused the belts every time ive done this because it has all been within 4k miles. Im thinkin its just time to replace the belts. the timing belt is new. but the alternater and power steering ones have been on the vehicle since ive owend it. It only has 62k so nothing should be bad... but whatever.

You sure it's the belt. Did you check the altinator itself. Something could be screwy with the alt itself.

oh? and what would that be? Ive never heard of that, but I guess anythings possible. Thanks for the reply. But the sound goes away with higher RPM's, I didnt mention that before. But It squeels at Idle or when slowing down to stop and the throttle is closed. So basicaly whenever the peddle is not engaged.

Hey just throwing something out there as you said anything is possible. Sometimes it's something you would swear up and down that is isn't and it actually is. Plus I do not know a lot about cars. I'm just a wannabe trying to learn (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grin.gif)
