I've been on these on Mitsubishi forums ever since I got my Lancer a few months ago, and this one is by far the best!

I purchased a Kenwood DNX-9140 2 weeks ago and it finally arrived today. I've never installed car audio of any kind before so I'm lost about how the wiring should go.

I ordered the Scosche dash kit along with the Scosche wiring harness(they haven't arrived in the mail yet)

Now as far as wiring goes, for example, if the Kenwood wiring harness has a Red wire I just connect it to the Lancer's Red wire on the harness? speaker to speaker, so on and so forth?

If there's a wire on either of the harnesses I don't use do I just leave them alone? Tuck them away?

Thanks for helping me out in advance!

I used the same wiring harness, and all wires are color matched already so all you have to do is to plug the harness in, connect the wires, and insulate properly.

You are not cutting anything on the lancer, the wire harness plugs into the lancers harness. The new radio will have its own wiring harness, you connect the Scosche harness to the radios harness and solder or bridge connect the wires together. The radio will have wire colors listed for you and so will the harness so it will be an easy match. The dash kit will also have instructions for you, most of the time. The 9140 is an awesome unit, you will be very pleased.

Thanks for the replies, now I just have to wait for my dash and harness kit to come in! Waiting for things in the mail seems like they take a lifetime lol

Now I'm asking myself, "should I get the steering wheel controls?" See idk if PAC is worth the extra money
