hi every one i got a 2.6 motor in a mighty max truck and the engine needs to be bored out to .40 or steel sleeved back to stock bore what do you guys sujest doing? i dont know if it will have over heating problems or not that why i need input thank you from joe

on a 2.6 astron you can bore it out to 40 thou

without a problem so you get new pistons with that

its a cast iorn block so I dont think you can sleeve it


the crank may need work also

have the block and head pressure tested and checked for warping

that will be the best way to overcome the over heating

not a cheap job rebuilding an engine

thank you for you information but now is the 2.6 astron the fuel injected model of the 2.6??? and what about over heating not a problem doing .40 over? thanks for your time

the 2.6 astron came with carby
and later injected depending on the model

my astron 2.6 sits in the middle of the temp guage all the time
the thermostatic fan cuts in when it is supposed to

well i got a fan clutch on my 2.6 because its in a 1984 mighty max truck and the fan clutch works correctly but what is the differnce between a 2.6 and a 2.6 astron i read stuff about them and they sound like the same engine if you could tell the differnce that would be great thanks you for your time

In the australian model the 2.6 is used
in sigmas and triton utes because they are rear wheel drive
water pumps are belt driven

the 2.6 astron are used in magnas and are front wheel drive
the water pump runs off the end of the cam shaft
and are mounted east west

both motors have chains to drive the cam shaft timing and run the oil pumps

sorry... but what does this have to do with the 3000GT and Stealth? Can someone move this the the correct forum or something??....
