hi to all,i'm new to this forum and i like to do things by myself on my cars whenever possible due to the rip offs of the mechanics,(if you know what i mean) i have a outie 2003 with 100k, but several miles ago,i found that the passenger seat floor was soak,i mean soak wet!! omg! like it was flood it! unplugged the drains in the bottom of the car to drain it and wait until it got dry, researching and researching i found out that there was a recall for this, ( corrosion on the wiring harness due to water leaking tru the upper dash area or side seals) and when i went to the dealer and contact mitsu north america said that my car was not included in the recall, cause the cars affected are the ones manufactured before 4/11/2003 and my car was manufactured 4/15/2003!!! can you believe!! my car is exactly doing what the recall says and for 4 days my car is not included,i bet you that most cars affected for this were manufactured on the same date as mine,so mitsu is pulling a fast one here, ugh! i'm always being happy with mitsus,my fam had 3,but this men.... ugh! anyone have had this problem?

Check your heater drain it can be pluged by leaves or dirt, just stick something up the little drain hose close to the bottom at fire wall. Pipe cleaner works fine.

hey there outy (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif) thanks for the output, but this a recall for this, cause the problem is when it rains,i can hear the water drippin tru the side of the upper dash passenger area(where u put ur feet) but the thing is that mitsu says that since my car was manufactured on 4/15/2003 and they say that the cars affected by this are the ones manufactured before 4/11/2003 are the ones affected, ugh! can you believe, anyhow,i was just wondering if somebody here had that problem

recall:
Vehicle Make / Model: Model Year(s):
MITSUBISHI / OUTLANDER 2003
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 03V194000
Summary:
ON CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, WATER COULD ENTER THE FRONT FLOORBOARD AREA FROM OPENINGS IN THE SIDE SILL OR UPPER DASH AREA. THIS WATER COULD COLLECT UNDER THE SEAT AND CAUSE ELECTRICAL CORROSION TO OCCUR IN THE HARNESS CONNECTORS THAT CONTAIN THE WIRING FOR THE SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONER, SIDE AIR BAG IMPACT SENSOR, AND STOP LAMPS.
Consequence:
ELECTRICAL CORROSION OF THE HARNESS COULD CAUSE THE SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONER TO MALFUNCTION, THE SIDE AIR BAG NOT TO DEPLOY AND/OR THE BRAKE LAMPS NOT TO ILLUMINATE OR TO FALSELY ILLUMINATE.
Remedy:
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE SIDE SILLS AND DASH PANEL FOR OPENINGS THAT MAY ALLOW WATER LEAKAGE INTO THE VEHICLE CABIN. IN ADDITION TO SEALING ANY OPENINGS THAT MAY BE FOUND, THE WIRING CONNECTORS WILL BE INSPECTED FOR SIGNS OF ELECTRICAL CORROSION. THE FLOOR HARNESS WILL BE REPLACED IF IT HAS ANY SIGNS OF WATER DAMAGE OR ELECTRICAL CORROSION. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN JUNE 23, 2003. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT MITSUBISHI AMERICA AT 1-800-222-0037 OR MITSUBISHI CARIBBEAN AT 1-787-251-8715.

But this refers to driver side under seat where wiring is. You said your leak was on passenger side. That's why I tought your problem might have been same as mine. Plugged heater drain.

Rain and snow always seem to always trickles down to the heater somehow. It is hard to see from under the hood unless you know where it is but if you have access to a hoist it is right up against painted firewall about middle of heater unit. It looks like a cut up vacuum hose pointing straight down about a ¼'' or 3/8'" in diameter. It is raining here today I can't take a picture but maybe tomorrow!

I don't think he was pointing at the mechanic persay SRSONE but more the dealer. My Mitsubishi mechanics Chris and Lee are the best but their hands are often tied by Overhead decisions like that triple C policy which I think is stupid. I forget what the 3 C's are (Something like Customer Complaint and Care) This means if the mechanic sees something wrong but the customer didn't complain and the vehicle is still under warranty nothing is done. To me this means when you go to the dealer you should complain about everything. Tell them your Outlander even makes your wife fart when she gets in the car. That way they will have to check and fix everything. For example the last time I was there an Eclipse was in for front end noise. The mechanic was changing end links and was walking under a badly burnt through flex pipe and I asked him if he was going to changed it because it was still under warranty and here is Chris's answer as far as I can remember. '' I would but I can't, the customer didn't complain of noise, worst I can't even tell him it is burnt through'' So the mechanic is not always at fault!!!! They fallow orders or get fired.
