Is there a turbo out for the 2.4 yet? And just to bring it down some more, a CVT tranny.... haha

The only turbo kit that's out right now that I know of is the RRM kit, but it is only for a manual. I doubt there will be one for the CVT, I don't think it can handle the extra power. Even if it could, the RRM kit seems over priced. DIY or a tuner performance shop is prob going to be cheaper and you'll learn a lot in the process. But I wouldn't add one to a CVT anyway, you're just asking for tranny trouble.

Yeah I don't think the CVT would handle the additional power from a turbo kit very well... Might cause some serious damage.

Will cause some serious damage. The way the CVT works is all based on a tourque system and oil to keep it cool. U would be overheating like a sun of a bch. Even with an added cvt oil cooler. ps, find a spot to put it with a rad/intercooler. you wouldent even be able to givr a quarter mile without it kickin into safe mode. I already know this for a fact. hell it even happens without any mods. Ur best bet would be to get a cvt fluid cooler, and all the non turbo bolt ons u can. If ur not worried about warrenty.

Ah, forgot all about the CVT tranny. Scratch that idea off my list....

hey Lube716, I was just looking around on RRM's website to see if anything new has come out and I see that they now have a turbo kit for the CVT. I'm still not sure if the cvt can handle it, but hey since you asked, RRM does have one and its says it's specifically for the cvt. (what the difference between the cvt version and the manual version is, idk). Still very pricey.

oh hot damn! But I do get the fact that it's STILL a CVT, so there really is a downside to it. But I really would love to boost it. It's just the poor tranny.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

NY, it's only a coincidence that right when I ask about it for a CVT, they come out with one... haha! Well after looking at it, it's very tempting. Maybe I will wait until someone gives a good word for it. If it works for them, then I just might give it a shot.....

They have had this kit out for a while but have not put it on their site. The CVT kit is going to be detuned as compared to the 5spd kit and will come with additional cooling capabilities for the transmission. The CVT's only issue with turbo is HEAT.

didn't notice it came out a while ago, but what I just read about it is that it only puts out about 5psi in boost and will give you just a little shy over 200hp.

you could do it. if u drive like an idiot, ur car will die tho. But if u take care and u arent always crankin it. And keeping up with fluid changes, from all the heat and extra. But if u turbo it, and change this and that dada, u have no warrenty, just keep that in mind. I mean, warrentys are only really useful when theres a manufactured defect, but you never know.

hmmm... spend $5k on a turbo kit that only puts out extra 50-60hp, that you cant really push too hard, gotta put more money into changing fluid frequently, etc etc.. is it really worth it? just wait it out and get a 5spd next time, or get an automatic with a lot more hp to start with.

Manual FTW. If they had a manual Ralliart I'd just get that. Sure you could get a GSR EVO, but I'm not paying 33k for a car. I have a house to pay for, other toys to get, plus need money to treat the ladies right, lol. Maybe 2011 will bring a manual Ralliart, but I may turbo my GTS before that anyway so who knows.

BTW - lube, another option you might want to consider is a nitrous setup. A de-tuned turbo for a cvt is giving you 50hp for 5k, you can get a a 30-50hp shot of nitrous for $600-700 and even if you have someone else install it, you'd probably be all set for under 1k. Not quite the same as a turbo, but a lot of fun for a lot less money and it wont beat on the engine and cvt as much or as often as a turbo.
You probably need to check your local laws too. Here in NY you can have nitrous installed, but cannot have the tank filled on the street or use it on the street. (of course, I say, catch me, lol)

Nitrous is fun but its like a crack addiction. You will start with 20, then get 30, then get 50, then get 100 then you end up in a ditch. I can just see myself on the high way with nitrous.. every time an a**hole cuts me off, i'll be pushing that nitro button lol

Ha ha, ya I hear ya. I'd be the same way using that nitrous every time someone bothers me on the road. Heck I do stuff like that now, someone tail gates me on the highway, instead of moving over and letting them pass, I floor it and do 120mph to get way ahead of them.
And others have said the same thing about nitrous to me, that I won't be able to stop at 30 or 50, that I'd get a 100 shot and then be calling for a tow truck, lol. But, it's still on my list of possible things to do to this car.
