Hello all! My first post here. I wrote off my Volvo S40 T4 on monday (spun out in the rain) and I had to go out and get a car quick. I ended up buying a Carisma and so far I'm pretty pleased with it. Just fixing up a few minor faults on it which leads me to my first question here....

Where can i get a drivers side door switch?

I think the switch is knackered because the interior light doesn't come on when the drivers door opens and there is no noise that tells me I've left the lights on.

If anybody on this forum has a spare switch I can buy then let me know or if you can tell me where to get one that would be helpful. I've seen some on ebay but the seller has £5 postage on. Bit pricey for a little switch.

Cheers,
Paul (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif)

I'm happy that you're pleased with the Carisma (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) From what year is it?
It was the smartest thing to do to get it via the dealer, better not have old spare parts in the car;

I also suggest that you make an early maintenance-service just to be sure everything in the car is OK., and to change the oil with a very very good one, after changing mine to Mobil1 0w40 New Life the car really felt like another car.

And... If you want to make the car look newer you can change the "old-red-mitsubishi-logo" and replace them with the new ones that are silver (you can get them cheap from ebay).

If you need any suggestions/help at all just pm me!

Thanks for the reply. I was beginning to think I was alone on this forum lol.

It's a T reg. Nothing fancy. I had a Volvo S40 T4 until last month and I aquaplaned and crashed into a barrier. The car was written off and I was in desperate need for a car instantly. I had to buy something quick and the Carisma was the first car i viewed. It was in good condition and a steal at £700. After driving it for a month it seems like a decent little motor. It has a few issues with erratic revs but generally it seems good.

I didnt realise the logo had changed from red to silver. Cheers for that (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif)

I thought I put an reply to this question before some time ago but I mush have been doteing(spelling) or perhaps it fell out the bottom of the net...

The door switches can be fixed by taking out the switch and dismanteling it. Two small screw drivers will be needed to take the switch apart. Don't lose the spring etc. The contacts can be cleaned by scraping/sandpapering. If the rubber keeping out water from the switch is holed it may be swaped with the passenger door one which may be OK.

haha, yeah i've noticed that you were beginning to get disappointed cuz nobody was answering (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
Damn! 700£ was really a good price!

The issue with the erratic idlle sounds like a common issue... But can't really help you with that since im not familiar with GLX engines...
But.. you could try to use some additives, maybe they will help somehow ! I used the STP Complete fuel injector cleaner not that long ago, it costed around 10-15£ and gave great results on my GDI engine, give it a try! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
