Hi...i've only had my airtrek turbo for almost three weeks now....one feature of the car is that its top speed is limited to 180 km/h....is there a way of making the car go beyond that speed limit?

thanks

Only by changing the ECU apparently

The speedcut will kick in at about 185-190 but by putting in the Tomei ECU that restriction will go.

You can also change the speedo to a 240 km/h Ralliart speedo...

You can get one from Tomei in Japan.

It's a bit convoluted as you need to pay for it plus a deposit, about the same price as the ECU (65,000 JPY). They will then send you the ECU and once you return the stock ECU they'll refund the deposit.

Here's the link.

I also heard of a company in Malaysia who mod the stock ECU for a lot less but not sure whether they ship outsdie of ML but with this you don't get any other mods other than the speedcut.

If you're in the Motherland you may want to try getting the Ralliart ECU from Xtreme Automobiles.

there's a way to break the speed limit but it's a little inconvenient:-

as you accelerate towards 160, 165, 170kmh, hold the gas pedal when it reaches about 175kmh, i mean make sure your foot stay stationary and do not accelerate any single bit at this point, keep it this way for about 7-8 seconds, and then you depress the gas pedal a little more, you will feel that the car continue to accelerate on... as the speedometer needle hits 180kmh and won't go any further (it can't, coz there's no more room for it to go further!), you will still feel the car continuing it's acceleration...

i have tried this many times with my friend in another high speed car following behind and he clocked me with his speedometer (which reads up to 260kmh) at 210kmh!!! :D ...... i ran out of straight road at this point...

cheers
