I am thinking about buying a 1983 l300 van, I havent been to look at it yet and i was wondering what I should pay particular attention to, the ad recons its had a recent recon engine and been well serviced.....and probably one lady owner who used it to transport her flying pigs
Would really appreciate your help cause I've spent all night searching the net for a buyers guide or an owners club and eventually found you people
thanks loads
alex

Hahaha. As a general rule just check it all over, rust on the back arches and around the rear view window seems to be most common places i see it , suspension, see if theirs any receipts for the recon engine and give it a good long test drive, :)
Dont know about any owners clubs or buyers guide im afraid.report back and tell us how you get on

thanks for the advice, when I eventually get to see it I'll let you know how it is, so far every time i arrange to see the guy he ends up saying he can't make it...I'm starting to think he doesn't want to sell it

Hi there, I'm a new member so I'm dabbling a lot here. Have you seen this van yet? How was it? I've noticed that the L300 is so well designed that everything is accessable. The only thing that seems to go regularly is the rear bumper. Thats why they're so expensive, even from a breakers. My last van got up to 170000 miles and still ran well. So if you can get your hands on one you'll be really pleased with it. It wouldn't surprise me if the guy did want to hold on.

Regards

Steve
