I have a scheduled appointment to drop off my 2001 Montero Ltd to the dealer later this week. The last week or so, I noticed what I thought were oil spots on the driveway from my truck. Upon further inspection, the spots smell like gasoline, not oil. It seems to be dripping from four different areas, depending on what piece of metal is closest to the ground, or how the fluid may be flowing/running while the truck is moving. It looks like it is only dripping from the area underneath the rear passenger area and between the rear two wheels.

Over the winter, I was get a few spots of fluid that I could see if I parked in fresh fallen snow, but it was a bright yellow-green color like anti-freeze, but coming from the same areas. This seemed to only happen a few times, and I was convinced that it had something to do with my rear heating systems, of which I had the tubes the run to the rear heater replaced as they were rusting out. That seemed to resolve that issue. Now, I've got this issue instead?!

Any ideas of what I can expect the dealer to tell me? Could this be covered under any warranty or recall? My truck has 58K miles on it.

Thanks,
Scott

You possibly have a leaking fuel filler neck.
