I've got a '01 Montero Ltd with a display problem. All was ok until I left it sit in my garage for 1 week. When I started it I noticed that it no longer displayed the temperature. When I change the A/C controls or fan settings the normal display screen won't show. Also my compass needed to be re-calibrated.

Does anyone have ANY clues as to what happened, why, and how I can fix it? The dealer wants $90 just to look at it and give an estimate!

You can put the display into reset mode by holding down the ADJ and DISP buttons when you turn on the ignition and start the enginge.

sheperdcl- You're a genius!
I tried holding both the "ADJ" & "DISP" in when I turned the key, nothing happened. But when I tried the "ADJ" only, it popped into diagnostics mode. The history revealed no problems so I ran it through the "auto" function. When it was done it went back to the regular screen only now it includes the temperature display. A quick change of the fan speed slipped it into the screen that had gone away. It's cured!!! Thank you VERY much. (Where do I send the check?)

I still don't know what happened or why, but I'm not sure that's a big concern anymore.
