Has anyone successfully swappped the turbo and/or manifold from an Evo8 onto a 2G eclipse? I tried to google it, but couldn't find anything. I have access to a couple of Evo 8 turbos, and a few mainfolds, so I wanted to know if this had been done and what problems (if any) were encountered. Does the Evo 8 turbo bolt directly to the stock GST block without modifications? Thanks

i believe that the manifold fits. with the evo 8, the turbo sits more in the middle of the exhaust manifold. on the GST, the turbo sits more to the left of center on the exhaust manifold. so i wouldnt see a problem in with the clearance of the manifold and turbo

Manifold would fit but the engine won't. The Evo8's engine sits like the 420A motor of the non-turbo Eclipse.

The turbo will not fit. I have tried it on my cars 97gs-t and EVO8.

He is correct. The engine sits oppisite of the 2g Eclipse. The turbo spools in the oppisite direction also.

The manifold will fit but it actually flows the same amount of the 2g or EVO1-3 manifold. If it's free or cheap take it. But not necessary.

It won't fit because the turbo is a reverse scoll. The location doesn't have much of anything to do with why the turbo won't work.

I know this is an old post but is there an more information about this.
I am confused about the reverse coil. I don't see how that would make a differance. but I am new to this DSM stuff

never. the 420a has a totally different bolt pattern. you can fit a turbo though with a custom manifold. to put a turbo on the 420a a custom manifold has to be made anyway and if you can find a place that will make one to your specs it will work.

the srt4 manifold and turbo combo will BOLT to the 420a with minor mods BUT unless you want to move your thermostat housing and power steering pump there isn't enough room.

why does scroll affect fitment if the manifolds are interchangeable?

i have not understood that either. i have also heard that the 4G64 in the 3G could run the evo manifold but not the turbo b/c of the twin scroll. but i never understood why that was.

if you use an evo manifold and turbo combo and, like mentioned before there should be enough room, I don't see how reverse scroll would affect anything. the turbo will spool the same way if it is on the evo or the eclipse.

I can understand if you want to try and change turbine housings because I looked into that for the srt turbo. I got the stocker from my friends srt that slowboy just blasted into 400whp and looked into swapping turbine housings to make it work with my manifold. The srt is reversed from MHI turbos and couldn't find a housing that would work.
