Hey fellow Lancer fans! I just bought a 2005 Ralliart. I wanted the Evo but it's not available in Canada. So I want to make this car as close to the evo as possible, I'm just not sure where to start or where to get the best deals on the parts and work that I'm going to need. Any suggestions? also does anyone know if there are any lancer clubs in Edmonton and if so where and when do they meet?

Well, I'm still not sure where to start. Do you know if there is a kit to convert my car to all wheel drive? I'd also like to get my hands on the 6-speed that the Evo comes with.

Do a basic search and type in ralliart turbo The friest thing you will see is a company called road//race. They make everything for the ralliart!! I have a 5-speed ralliart with these mods. Injen Cold air intake, 2-1 ceramic coated downpipe, I header raped my 4-2 header with DEI header rap, magnaflow high flow cat and a magnaflow wide open style muffler, very light weight 10lb 15" rims with falken 615 auto corss tires, real eveo 8 wing and eyelids. I allso removed my spare tire and trunk liner.
I have a G-Force metter that reports your 1/4 mile and 0-60 times. my best stock run was 7.1 0-60. With these mods I have been able to run consistant 6.60 0-60 times. Your going to spend alot of money if You wanna make your car much faster than stock. Your best bet to start off is to get some very light weight rims they add wheel hp for every 1lb of rotating mass its like taking 10Lbs off your cars weight. stock rims weigh like 20 lbs so by me going to 10lb 15s its like I -200lbs off my cars curb weight. I allso ran a lil lower profile so it geared my car a lil lower that allso added more low end power. I'm running 205-50-15's and thay have a 8" contact path witch stock are like 7". this car out of the box will out perform 75% of the cars on the road its biggest weakness is its stock tires.
next I plain on getting some tien coil overs , road//race anti role bar, Road//race rear strut tower brace, and jet chips ecu upgrade. hope this info helps you out :)

Alright, for one, removing 1lb of rotating mass from your wheel, is not going to equate to a 10lb reduction in equvilent "performance" weight.

Curb weight is a parked vehicle weight. If you remove 10lbs from each wheel, you will have reduced your curb weight by exactly 40lbs.

I've heard various romours about srung / unsprung / rotating / and reciprocating mass calcualtions and it sounds like a 1lb reduction in rotating mass has a similar performance change of removing 3lbs of static mass.

According to tests done by carcraft.com a rotating weight reduction of 82 total lbs equated to a 1/10th of a second faster time and a 1mph faster trap speed:

From start to finish, we shaved 82 pounds, which reduced our e.t.'s by 0.111 second and upped our speed by 1.12 mph. That's not as big a difference as we were hoping for. For die-hard racers this lightweight combo may sound tasty, but many gearheads still prefer the classic--albeit slightly slower--rally wheel look. You make the call.

Givin your own calculation of 1lb = 10lb race equivalent, you removing 40lbs of rotating weight, would equate to 400lbs of "race weight" reduction yet you state 200lbs below? It's better to keep your mouth shut and be thought of as un-intelligent then to open your mouth and remove all possible doubt.

99 Grand Prix GTP on 20's (60lb wheel/tire combo ea.) 11.67 @ 114.7

I'm rolling on the floor laughing. Anyone who thinks that 1lb rotating weight reduction equals 10lbs at the curb, is crazy.

I graduated a year ago with a mechanical engineering degree, and this stuff is nothing new. I don't know off the top my head, but reducing rotating weight is not simple to calculate, because the force (thus horsepower) lost in rotation depends not just on mass, but where the mass is located (known as "J" mass moment of inertia).

Long story short, to get horsepower gains, you have to start at the engine, reduce rotating weight, flywheel, cams (Evo has hollow cams), drive shafts (Nissan 350Z has a carbon fiber drive shaft), pulleys, etc. If you replaced every rotating mass with reduced weight devices you would see horsepower gains, but the cost of those gains would not be economical.

Just my two cents.

Mike

swight, once you've visited EvoM.net, I suggest you take a look at Road Race Motorsports' web site for turbo applications and many other parts for your Lancer. Also, RIPP from New Yory are working on a supercharger kit for ther manual RA... and they are already selling one for the auto tranny.

But yeah, first search EvoM (you will come onto the site with questions that have been asked countless times, if you don't search you'll go down in flames in under 5 minutes) and then have a look at the vendors sites...

And after you have done all of that check my link and have a look at what I am doing with my car ... it won't have the AWD stuff due to the cost of doing it right and then making it work but we are currently working on N/A mods which should be finished in a couple of weeks time and then starting on Turbo gear.... I had these guys work on my previous car which was a 4g93 and we got an extra 70%hp out of it with stock internals so we are looking and hoping for the same with this car
