Hi

I am new to this forum so please bear with me...

I have a 2000 Space Star 1.3 GL that I bought from my old man.

The engine warning light has been flickering on and off while driving for a while, but now comes on permanently after about a minute of driving. The car runs fine when warm, but cold starting has become very poor.

The car is my wife's shopping mobile, so doesn't get many long runs, I try to take it out for lionger runs to make sure that the plugs aren't oiled up and the battery is OK etc.

My father had the warning light flickering and had it checked out by his local dealer when he had it, but was told there was nothing wrong.

I just googled this fault and found another auto forum (autoforumz.com) where it was suggested that the fault might lie with the oxygen sensor heating element.

Any thoughts or experiences?

Cheers

James

It may be a sensor or possibly the ECU (Engine Control Unit). Earlier models had problems with the capacitors failing in the ECU once it warmed up. Best idea before you spend alot of $$ parts changing is to get it into a qualified mechanic who can plug into a diagnostics program for evaluating. This simple test should tell you what the problem is before you start chasing your tail.

Thanks Jim

I am planning to do that. Hmm, sensor, $$, ECU $$$($$$?)!!

Cheers
