I haven't seen the designs for the new evo, but if they stay true to their past, they will bypass Canada. The problem is that the intercooler is not "protected" enough by supports. The safety board has ruled all previous evo's illegal because in a relatively minor accident the intercooler can be destroyed and cause serious damage. It is an easy problem to fix, but they have not attempted to do it in the past and I dont see why they would now.

It's coming to Canada early in 2008.

I'm guessing more than 40K, probably 45-46K.
If it is more than that people will look at some more prestigious iron, imo.

As for trading in that is entirely a personal decision.

EDIT: BTW, if it IS 40K base I will be pleasantly surprised and want one even more.

My broker asked about the evo for me and the dealership told me ask again in December... My lease is up on my current car and I'm leaning towards the evo if it's available, the regular lancer looks nice too but when I asked the broker he said the wait for a GTS now is till November or something, I wouldn't mind putting down a deposit if I know the evo is available for sure but too many if's it seem... but if it's not available by april I guess I'll look at either the regular lancer or something else....

I saw an Evo-X at New Type Mits. in Richmond, BC. It was in the showroom and has a sold sign on it already. I think the price was in the mid 40s.
