I have had a new timing belt fitted and the engine is now pinking. The Mechaninc said he check the notches ext.. and the belt is fitted perfectly. What should I do??

Ps does anybody know where to get an English manual for the RVR Sportsgear??

you should take it to a mitsubishi dealer and they should do it and you can not get a english manual for this car. the only other way you could get a english manual is if you got a person from Japan to convert it but you probably have a hard time finding someone who would sit down and do it

While this may seem completely unrelated to the timing belt issue, I had a similar problem with my RVR X2 when I replaced the timing belt - the engine started pinking. The way that I fixed it (recommended by our mechanic) was run higher octane gas. Was using '91 octane, and when I changed to '96 octane, it went away.

Although, in saying that, the entire engine was somewhat in a state of disrepair when I got the car - hadn't had a proper service for a very long time.

Try it out anyhow - although it does seem to be rather an odd fix for the problem...

your original belt has obviously stretched and timing would be out.
Easiest thing to do once a new timing belt has been installed is to reset your ecu.
