Drives: 1995 Mitsubishi Shogun 3.5 GLS LWB

I have a 1995 Shogun 3.5 GLS LWB with about 75k miles on the clock. It often flashes the upper two rectangular green dash lights implying it is somewhere between 2WD and 4WD. Reversing sometimes cures but not often. It regularly happens coming out from 4WD, but also occurs when starting up. Sometimes it persists for many miles, and then clears with no characteristics sounds or jolts and for no apparent reason.

When stuck in this mode and after driving a resonable distance, when coming to a stop, there will be a whirring gear noise and resistance to movement. To clear this requires a burst of throttle in reverse and forward a few times.

Has anyone had the same experience and solved the problem please?

Clive
