I have a NZ model of the Chariot built in 1992, it has a button marked "pole" on the dashboard and has clearly been added as an after-market fitting. To date I haven't the vaguest clue what it is supposed to do. Does anyone out there know? It may be all I need is a Kiwi to solve this one.

On closer inspection there are signs that an electrical aerial may have once been fitted, thanks for the pointer, it sounds like the perfect answer.

Best regards,
Stephen

This is probably a device to aid parking.

Japanse often install a little pole in the front left corner of the car & when you push the button this pole is raised so you can see where the car ends & therefore not crash into other cars.

It may be something else, but I would suggest that is the most likely option.

happy parking!
