I've got a 2001 Shogun Pinin Elegance 2.0 litre petrol 5 door
Two days ago it just refused to start. Ticking noise from front but no starter motor etc. I assumed either sticking starter or flat battery. Nudged the car in gear to free the starter. Tried jump starting it but now all lights out and battery appears dead. Checked fuses under the bonnet (hood) and found that the 100A fuse had blown so replaced that and charged the battery overnight.
This morning, starter motor turns OK, lights on and working but no firing at all. In addition the central LCD display shows 0 centigrade (in this heat!) and the clock has reset but no other part of the display is present (mpg, average speed, miles left etc).
Best theory is that the problem is electrical. Should I have reset anything after replacing the battery? Would another blown fuse account for the missing display?
Problem is that my dealer wants £60 ($100) just to look at it and tell me there is something wrong.
Help.........
