Okay I've got decent experience installing Head Units, I have a Panasonic CQ-C8300U and was installed it.. Now the unit gets no power - I know what to check because this happened to me once, so I make sure the black power cable is plugged in, make sure the ACC wire and Battery power cables are properly intertwined and taped up, the ground could be a problem although I'm almost sure the location is good I've tried wrapping it around 3 different pieces of bare steel but every time I get no juice to the HU

THEN I went to the fuse box and replaced the Music fuse THEN I went and bought a fuse tester and tested every single fuse and they all work.. but still no juice..... although I can say this - it's a new car and the interior lights don't work but I figure I should have been able to fix this with a fuse but every fuse tested to be OK are the bulbs gone or could that be linked to the HU problem?

NOW the only thing I can think of is that the car, when bought a few days ago - it's factory head unit was asking for the Antitheft code which i didnt bother to get (or pay for) so is it possible that something that had set the anti-theft off on the other unit is triggering something in my new head unit?

did you try checking the fuses under the hood?

it seems that the interior lights problem and the HU problem are linked someway.

sheepishly.. i tried popping the hood before to check those fuses but the hood seemed stuck.. how do you open an 01 galants hood? aha

but the thing is the old HU did get power although the only thing I've seen it do is ask for the code..
