Hello,
I was needing some opinoins on a situation. I ran across this 1997 Eclipse GS. It is in pretty bad shape. The exterior is great. It is black with a carbon fiber hood. The inside... is another story... The power locks are messed up on the driver side, thesunroof is off track or something. Also it idles really funny. It will go up and down below 1rpm. When you give it gas though it has power. I checked under the hood real quick because I didn't having enough time for a good look. While is was running the engine was just going crazy under the hood. It wasn't shaking... it was more like convulsing.... slowing... It was knocking or anything just idleing was bad. The check engine was on. Is there anyway that I can use that check engine to tell me what is wrong with the car? I know how to do it with Civic's but not with Eclipse... Aslo does anybod think this is a good deal... if I can get real cheap.... Just let me know....
Thanks,
Dustin

I think I would keep looking around, I'm no pro at these cars but it sounds to me like you would be better off checking out a Car Auction.
I have seen very very good cars in em across the country I wish I had tried the Auction 1st before I got my car.
Don't be in a rush trust me it will save you money and a big ol headache to boot!
I think that some even give you the option of buying it with a warrenty.
Ask them guys that pull em and fix em up where do they get their cars, I see a lot of Chicanos pull'n real good cars mabey as far away as Texas back to California.
Look at the milage on the OD that should give you an idea of what you are in for.
Remeber the economy is bad people are trying to keep a roof over their heads and this is the right time to get a car, in other words you the consumer have the uper hand ;)
