:) Hello all! Have enjoyed being the owner of 5 Mitsubishi vehicles since 1991! Have not really given thought to driving anything else. Has anyone ever had a problem with their emergency brake hanging up? Pulled into work this morning and a few seconds later, saw smoke coming out from the rear, called FD and they indicated that it was the emergency brake. Mits dealer responded quickly--calling a tow and checking it out for me. Was thankful it did not turn out to be worse. Holler! limeadetogo

Did you have your acr serviced before? How many miles do you have? Someone could of overadjusted them.

Just had a 30,000 mile service done earlier this week and they did do a brake adjustment with the service. I did not even stop to think of that. And come to think of it, I did have difficulty trying to release the emergency brake this morning when I started out for work. I really had to give it extra effort. Sounds like mechanical error. Would not an adjustment be to a certain tension anyway? The vehicle now has 30,008 miles on it.

You adjust it by feel but obviously they overadjusted it. Do you have any vibrations while braking at high speeds now. If so they warped the drums by overadjusting them and causing excessive heat.

I do appreciate this information. I am going to take it out tomorrow and check it out on the interstate--only drove it home today at 45 mph. With the exception of this event, have really enjoyed Mits vehicles. I sure hope it is not this. Have a good evening! Thank you!

The only problem I have just started. My e-brake light stayed on twice. It will not go off this time. Last time I just engaged and rekleased about 5 times and it went off. Looks like I will be off to the dealer this week to have it checked out. Perhaps a faulty sensor?

As it turns out, the brake fluid reservoir has a sensor... if yoour fluid gets low due to needing new brakes or a leak, or burning fluid, etc. the light comes on. Pretty cool I thought, although I did not see anything about that in the owners manual. First time seeing that for me :blush-anim-cl:
