Right now I have a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix GT with mild mods and has 111,000 miles on it. Im lookin into gettin a 3000gt preferably the twin turboed. The reason I want one is because I want a manual and a lot of power. But the thing is, what year(s) should I buy? I don't want to have to always worry about it breaking down or dumping tons of money into it. Im still in highschool and I don't make that much money in my part time job. Any help is appreciated!

They did not have any major problems with any of them. But on the older models they had active aero and many of them did not work due to people hitting parking blocks and the parts are expensive to replace.

If your looking for a Turbo expect to look for a while. Most have been severly beat on.

Things to look at include:
shifting the tranny to make sure the synchros are still good.
has the recall on the transfer case been done?
Is the transfer case leaking? (even after the recall has been done sometimes)
has the maintenance been done? (ie: timing belt, tensioner, water pump)
Accident history.
Upgrades/modifications that have been done.

There's more, but that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

The insurance is a real killer. he's right. you may want to look into this. the parts are expensive, but with a bit of mechanical know how you can do most of the labor yourself. that helps keep price down.

Also, if your buying the car, the Y-pipe right before the plenum where it splits in two has two hose clamps. undo one and check for oil in the intake line. A little bit is normal, a lot is very bad.
