Hi

I've put in a Simota cone filter in my Lancer 1.6 GLX. It has about 1500 Kms on the odo (about 930 Miles) so it's still under warranty. Will this Mod do much in terms of power? Butt in Seat measurement says 'yes' and the sound of that baby howling is wicked!

I'm from South Africa, so the engine and thins look way different from you guys. Plus I have no clue if my car has the Mivec software. I've attached a pic as well.

Any help will be appreciated.

Clinton

Any hp you gain will be taken form low end torq. I have tryed that same thing on my car now. I have a injen cold air intake. I think you would be better off using your stock air box and getting a drop in K&N air filter.

Yep, I thought as much. Where'd you get you CAI? Not much demand for performance parts for the Lancer here. It's only just been introduced to the Country. Can I build one myself (get it built by an exhaust shop ;) ). How's the performance with the CAI instead of the setup that I currently have?
The car as it stands is much more powerful than with the standard airbox. It could be that I'm feeling the power increase coz my cars just a 1.6.

Thanks for the reply...

Clinton

Edit: What's going on?? My Fuel consumption has skyrocketed!! I'm getting +- 100 K's less now!!! :o :o :o

yeah all the RAs in the US are 2.4l engines, i would try ebay, ive seen where they have a decent short ram for a 2.0l but the setup looks similar to yours, i think its only $30 US do you have a MAS on your intake?

:liebe011:

Hi fkdrcrs,

I just pulled off the stock filter and the rear portion of my Airbox. I attached the cone to the original pipe that fed the air through to the Engine.

As for the MAS, I *think* that it's fitted directly after the stock piping as I couldn't for the life of me find it NE where near or on the piping.

I'm eventually gonna build up a CAI for the car (can't buy one of EBAY as the exchange rate RAND to DOLLAR is frightening!!) cos no one here in South Africa keeps stuff for the Lancer yet. In fact I'm only one of about 4 chaps that own one in my town.

On a side note though. I think this Cone i bought is a knock-off as every car I've tried it on suffered dramatic increases in fuel consumption with it fitted. :o
