just recently my car started getting hot around 70-80mph. When I first get on the interstate it will heat up really quick then go back down to normal but at night when it does this I noticed the head lights flickering. It is electric or do I just need to replace the thermostat. If so where is it.

You need to ensure that you are not losing water, check that your fans are coming on at normal operation temp. If not you could have a bad switch (Temp/ECT/Radiator fan switch) If the thermostat is bad the lower hose will heat up sightly or you may hear a bubbling sound, or the top hose will be very hot & hard.

If your headlights are flickering when the car is overheating, you might have more problems then just overheating.
Just like bob said, check your fluid levels.

to get you buy, and so you don't overheat your car for the time being if you crank the heat, and blow it into the passenger compartment it should help keep the engine a little cooler.

Good luck

check to make sure your thermostat isn't broken, as most will lock up in the closed position. when was the last time you did a full tune up, ie: 60k maintenance?
