Thanks in advance for all whom are reading this and can provide insight.
Okay, these questions are going to be really lame, but I am not a car guy, I'm a computer guy....
I have a 5 speed 1992 Mitsubishi 3000GT SL
My issue is with my transmission. The other night I'm doing a short drive when I notice the stick is shifting a little rough. I'm concerned, but figured not much I could do about it as I'm on my way home and it's already dark out. Yet along the way while at stops, it starts grinding a little when I shift to first, pulling really tough when I go to 2nd, and only gives a little trouble in 3rd (never had to shift up to 4th for the rest of the drive home). By the time I get close to home, the stick is worse as it grinds loud and hard when I tried to go into first. The clutch pedal was very loose when I pushed it in, but it came up again when I released it. Once home, I managed to get enough light on the car to check the oil, which was extremely low (yeah, I know, hate me cause I'm negligent). So I put a couple of pints in to fill it up. I left the car overnight, and checked it just now. The clutch pedal sticks now, it won't pop back up. I didn't even bother trying to shift the stick again cause it's obvious it'll grind hard with the pedal acting the way it is.....
Now the thing is, when I owned an automatic car it had a spot for putting in transmission fluid. Doesn't my manual car have the same thing? I checked my owners manual for the vehicle, and it lists a spot for trans fluid and transaxle checking, but neither of those things are actually on my engine as the manual indicated (leaving me to believe it is for an automatic drive version of my car). I did own a manual drive vehicle before for a short time and I could've sworn it had an indicator and reservoir for transmission fluid. Can anybody please shed some light on this issue?
- Thanks
