Welcome Chrisvanschoor :) . No you are not a weirdo at all. I will setup a RVR category when we reach say 100 RVR members.

Thanks for the reply!

After surfing around, I'm finding that the RVR in turbo from (with it's Lancer EVO engine) could probably be of interest to high perf. types after all!

I'm thinking of ordering a post-1997 RVR from Japan - does anyone have any pointers/opinions for me?

I suppose you will go for a 2000, mines an 1800 Lancer motor , Got caught with an oil leak coming from the front left hand side of the block. Common problem with the 1800 but not an issue with the 2000 ,so Im told. Great wagon for all those odd jobs, bikes in the back and so on.

The turbo version is a detunned EVO the 4G63 Turbo puts out 169Kw instead of the 132Kw for non-turbo ,I have a Resort Runner (Chariot Turbo) and the power increase is nice also comes with larger brakes which are real good.

Also got caught by the same problem on my 1800. Cylinder head gaskit and not a cheap repair either, had cam belt changed at the same time but the new belt put such a strain on the water pump that the front bush/bearing failed so pump had to be replaced as well. Apart from that have had no problems. Once I did have the catalytic converter light come on and the engine lost total power, like gradual fuel starvation but this cleared after half a minute or so. Thought that it might have something to do with the oxygen sensor which measures the efficiency of the converter thereby adjusting the fuel air mixture..Just an idea does anyone out there have any other suggestions?

Hi, I'm also a newbie and a oxygen sensor is what I'm after!!!

I've just bought my RVR and I think/hope an oxygen sensor will answer my problems! I worried a head gaskit is also going to be needed! oh hell.....

I also have a tiny oil leak on the front left corner of the engine.

Any one have a good import parts dealer???? :crying:
