Are starters bad in the 3rd gen eclipse or are the batteries bad or are the alternators bad? i know im still using my original battery in my 98 and im powering a 1000 watt amp and others off of it and i havent had any problems but my moms 01 is having trouble. We(me and my dad) thought it was the starter by the way it was starting but then it wouldnt start once, so we charged the battery and it lasted 1 day starting to give a lil back to the non starting noise. so now im thinking the alternator is bad since why would a 01's battery go dead so soon everything on her car is stock thats why i was just wondering if there has been anything said bad about any of these parts

its an easy fix i know but i was just curious about the parts anything bad happened with all of the 3rd gen

just b/c the car is stock, doesnt mean the battery should last forever. batteries die. starters die. alternators die. it doesnt mean that the company that built them did a bad job.

however, your problem sounds like the alternator has died.

ive gone 72k on my 3G, and i have no problems with the starter, alternator, or battery(still original battery)

Get a simple voltmeter and check the voltage of the battery should be about 12 volts. Then start the engine and it should be 13- 14.5 volts with the engine running if the alternator is good.
