I have an '05 Endeavor AWD with 45000 miles and am having the same problem. I had the codes checked and it was registering a cylinder 3 misfire. I have recently switched to premium, but I was wondering how many tank fill ups would be required to "flush" out the low octane fuel. I guess it probably would not be a bad idea to have the updates downloaded either.

I was wondering if maybe I should reset my ECU in order to recognize the difference in fuel? I have run a full tank on premium and I am due for another fill up. The problem has lessened but it still runs pretty rough.

you wont get a misfire from low octane fuel. you either have a real misfire, or need a software update.

and you only need to run through the tank to "flush" out the gas. Its not like it has remnants or something.

there is nothing to "reset" on the ECU. the monitoring of engine knock is done continuously.

if it runs rough, you probably should have it diagnosed.

I took it to the dealership and they said that it was a bad coil. I will have the vehicle back tomorrow.
