What's up guys, i'm new here too, and i didn't want to make a new thread so i'll post my problem in here:
I recently bought a 2001 Eclipse GT V6, and it was running great up until i got off of the freeway, like about 1 hour after leaving the dealership. The problem is, it makes a cranking or screeching noise on the driver side of the car. It does it when i change gears or simply pressing on the gas or brake makes it sqeak too. It seems to be doing this because of a broken mount under the battery, but i don't know which one it is. Is it the motor mount, transmission mount, left, right, side? It's not going to be fixed by the dealer becuase the warranty doesn't cover it, according to them. I've worked on cars before and my dad's a mechanic, so replacing it isn't a big deal, but i need to know which one it is.
Not only that, but the stereo doesn't work, i have no manual, and earlier today the car was sputtering then it would turn off. I hope my alternator isn't screwed up already, anyways, thanks for the help.

In California? Yeah, i recently ordered a lemon law guide book provided by some firm that handles these kinds of cases. It's free and should come through the mail in about 2 days. The sqeak by the transmission mount(i finally figured out which one it was  ) isn't nearly as annoying as the new problem: I was driving my brother, sister in law, and 3 month old niece to the market when all of a sudden the car makes a shutter, then turns off. It's the same thing that happened yesterday night, but it was more severe this time. If i was at a stop or wasn't pressing on the gas, the car would sputter, then turn off. I know it's not the alternator because i checked it myself, and i have no idea what it could be. Battery?, spark plugs?, oil change?, gas pump? To make things worse, i decided to take my old car to work, a 1989 camry. Thinking it was a safe bet, i was on my way when my camry does EXACTLY the same thing as the Eclipse. Sputter, then turns off. Suffice to say, i was pretty ****. Both of them had sufficient time to warm up, so it's not that. I am truly lost here, if any of you know what could be wrong, specifically with the Eclipse, i would greatly appreciate some help.

QUOTE(TotalEclipse00 @ Jul 23 2005, 03:59 PM) Hi, I am new here and have a few questions. We just recently purchased a 2000 Eclipse GS and everything was fine until about a week ago. 1) we had to put a new harmonic(sp) balancer on it and a new serpentine belt. 2) Now the belt sqeaks when we first crank it, and when the engine temp is cold, and also when the air comes on but then stops as the car heats up.....What could cause that? and 3) while at idle the engine ticks the slightest bit but stops as soon as the car it put into 1st and so on...any ideas what could be causing these little things? Thanks in advance!
Finally figured it out  after the alt/wp belt snapped :gunsmilie: First of all it was the harmonic balancer. O.K. ordered that and put it on. Then the alt/wp belt SREADED, so I replaced that. Then I found out that my wife had took the car a few days before that to get the belts "tightened" :nahrung034: Apperently the "shadetree" morons didnt know what they were doing. Anyways all of the squeaking and other problems are gone THANK GOD!!! It was getting annoying. Thanks for everyones advice. All of you guys ROCK!
