Hi Guys,

I am only new to this forum, but have recently brought a 90 model CB lancer GLX. Over the weekend I decided to put a cd player in the car. Since I have done this my dash lights do not work at all. When the light switch is on parkers only the right front headlight and tailight work. When i put the lights on full, the 2 front work but the back right only. I checked all the fuses near the kick panel on the drivers side and none are blown. Is there anything I can try? Would it be any of the fuses in the engine bay?? I spliced into the power and earth wires that were off the original loom to the tape deck also. I just used a test light to find the corresponding wires at the time. Any help would be much appreciated :)

Thanks
-Mike

No I didn't say I cut the harness. I spliced into the according wires (ie. accessories, power, earth, front speakers). I worked out the problem anyway, where i was getting the reading for earth it was actually the illumination wire. The head decks in these model cars earth off the deck itself from what I could work out from the diagrams. So to fix it I relocated the earth to the body of the car, replaced the blown fuse (in the engine bay), and now all works fine :D

Dude I love you!

I actually had the same problem until about 10 minutes ago, having installed the CD player then lost the dash. Evidently I didn't realise lancers have another fusebox in the engine bay...

Hello,

I would love some more information about fixing this fault, as my wife’s lancer has the same problem. The only problem is I am not big on cars, but I know electronics.

Any more advice would be great, I would love a more detailed description of what you did to fix it, and which fuse was blown in the engine bay.

Cheers,

Graham Wild
