My 2004 Endeavor is the best vehicle I have ever owned, but I had a very unfortunate experience today with the 30,000 mile service I wonder if anyone has ideas about how to fix.

I am hyper-sensitive to smells, and had started to get a slight mildew odor from the air conditioning this season. When I took the car in for servicing I noticed that Mitsubishi now has an spray that can be used to kill bacteria in the system that is specifically described as odorless. I asked that they apply this product with the servicing. Without telling me, after applying the Mitsubishi spray, they also sprayed a cherry-scented deodorizer into the air conditioner. They tried to flush it out by applying the first spray again, but the odor is still unbearable. My $34,000 vehicle now smells like a cheap used car, and I am sick as a dog. Does the smell of these products dissipate over time? Is there anything I can do to hasten the process? If worse comes to worse can the system be replaced? Should I get a lawyer? (only half a joke).

Thanks for any help.

A once very happy but now very depressed Endeavor owner.

The spray mitsubishi recommends is odorless and coats the eveporator coils. They probably used something aftermarket as mitsubishi does not manufacture scented products. You need to find out what they sprayed and where they sprayed it.

As mittech said you need to find out where they sprayed what is most probably an aftermarket deoderant, it's possible that it's in the upholstery etc! having said that it should dissipate with time. Also try leaving the vehicle with all doors/ tailgate open for at least a day preferably in a light breeze.
