my 98 space wagan is runs on a caburator system. when i start in the morning, and put the car in gear (automatic) it stuggles and the shuts off. please help me to fix this problem.

98 Model? Carby? Odd, i didn't think they used Cabys in any mitsi's after the 80's. Maybe just in some countries.

Does the car drive ok when it's warm? How many revs is the car idling at? I know that my old 80's carby based Mitsi's have an auto choke and fast idle system, to increrase the revs when it was cold, this would stop them stalling. This system may just need adjusting. As a temporary work around, you could adjust the idle speed screw on the caby to make it idle higher... just a thought.
