G'day Jlx!!
Was just wondering how you can tell from your list, which are 4cyl & which are 6cyl engines??. Am thinking about swapping my 1993, 2.0 4cyl (GSR) engine, for a 2.0 V6 from a VX sedan....
Many thanks!!
Anton.

4G63T- 2000 tbo (1997cc)
same as above, (t) denotes turbo charged

Yeah easy as, get a 4g63 DOHC loom and ECU from a GS or GSX if your a manual even easier as you wont have to do anything about the trans....take old engine out install new dohc version plug her up bolt to trans....your off......but may need to set your idle....

The 6 generation galants u can get so many engines for....yeah the 4G31 1.6l that came out on the JDM ME will bolt up 2 lol......

Anton, your GSR is that imported to NZ from Aust?
hmmm taking a V6 from a VX yeah can get it to fit but will be alot of work getting loom sorted and tranny drive shafts.....if you really want to try to get the VX-R Mivec-MD V6.............or stick a 4g63T into it and make it a ZR4?

Would the same list of engines fit ina 91 galant ls? How much would a sohc 4 cyclinder have in the way of horsepower? i really am hopefully thinking i have 102 hp but i doubt it. i want to get a lower mile engine bc the one i have has burns and leeks oil like a siv. and my trany is a pos that doesn't shift right. do u have any suggestions for a new trany or engine i want the most i can get outa a 4 cyl. for the least. my ecu also is kinda messed up bc when i start it i have to floor it to get moving or it will just die. can some onehelp me with these problems? if u could it would be great. Thanks

I have a base 92 also, and was wondering if you put in a newer/stronger engine, would you have to modify or replace the transmission, etc? how much does a typical engine transplant usually cost?

also Galantuner, the base galant 4g63 puts out about 102 hp, but im sure i have lost some power somewhere between now and 200k miles ago. the last batch of 6g galants had a 120hp, 16valve engine, but i dont have one of those. also, i have noticed the same thing about when you first start the engine: when i start my car each morning, i have to give it a little extra gas to keep it from shuddering, but it drives fine the rest of the day. I have no idea how to fix it, but it doesnt bother me much at all. I dont know what transmission you have in yours, but mine has a manual trannny, and i havnt really had any problems with it, although its not the smoothest transmission around. that reminds me, i read this from another website:

"Manual transmission: Manual transmissions in which the shifter does not move smoothly between gears need a bottle of friction modifier added to the oil through the speedometer gear opening. (1991-92)"

does anyone know where i can get friction modifier; and where is the 'speedometer gear opening'?

THREADJACKER!!!

:-)

If it's a USDM car, the 6th Gen only came with the 4G63, either in SOHC, DOHC, or DOHC Turbo. For all intents and purpose, this car is a four door Eclipse. Anything that fits an Eclipse will fit this car.
