A friend of mine has a Starion. I believe it's an 87, or 88. It's red and a it has a wing on the back (top of rear window). He says that it is a 4cyl, 3.0 liter. He says that is was a limited production. I have not been able to find any info on such a car online. My friend has been known to over exagerate at times.

The only info i could find was about 2.6 liter starions.

Was there a limited edition starion made with a 3.0 liter 4 cylinder engine?

would love to know.

The only starion 3.0 liter ever made are the new mitsubishi FTO (Body codes: Z15A & Z16A) and they are V6 engines.

The starion modeles that wer imported to us were the A182A & A183A & A184A(2.0 litre 4 in line) and the A187A with the 2.6 litre 4cylindre engine.

So the answer to your question is no, there are no starion 6 cylindre in the states, neither there are 3.0 liters.

Are you sure you are not confusing the 3000gt / GTO (3.0 litre v6 na & tt)? . These cars intially when released were badged as the STARION GTO , but shortly after production , the GTO and 3000gt names were introduced. The GTO was released just after the starion ceased in production , and was the replacement for it. The only 2 engines released for the Starions (4cyl) were the 4g63 2.0 sohc and the 4g54 2.6 sohc. Your friend may have aquired a 4g54 with a stroked engine ???

with all the machine work done to these engines
all you would come up with is at most 2.8L
but there is 1 3.0 L starion in exhistence a pic of
it is over on the KDMperformance web site.
no its far from being stock hop over and take a look at it.
DROOL factor =15 on a 1 - 10 scale.

hope you enjoy.........
