About a month ago I started noticing Whitish color smoke coming from my exuast. I was told that I was burning real rich, but wasn't told how to fix it, I was wondering if any of you out there could help me to fix this problem, I do believe that I am burning alot of extra fuel because my gas milelage has went down, alot!

you might need to change the O-rings on the valve springs. it could also be condonsation. i was going to buy this datsun and it was smoking white smoke like yours and thats what needed to be fixed its not that hard or expensive to replace(i never got the car :offtopic: )

good luck

Unless you ever overheated the engine you probably have no problem. If you were running rich your check engine light would be on. When you say smoke you mean out of the tailpipe when the engine is cold or it is cold outside right? Combustion occurs inside of the engine which will cause smoke. Do you have large clouds billowing out behind you when you take off?

Wight smoke = burning water/coolant
Black smoke = burning extra fuel
Blue smoke = burning oil

Wight smoke usually means blown head gasket. Another symptom is loss of power and that = low gas mileage

Blue smoke is usually bad valve seals

And black smoke is burnt valves or running rich, and running rich leads to burnt valves.

Sounds like a head gasket to me ..You should get a reuseable head gasket from OnGreen performance and check the head for leaks and wear . replace everything you can sense your in there.Don't half **** it..you'll be sorry!!!

I'm not sure i feel you on that one. My 6a12 burns white smoke when i'm in traffic at a stands still for lets say 3 mins. When i move off it puff white smoke and then clears right up.

Was told it could be valve seals. I changed the tappet covewr gaskets and spark plug seals. Next i'm going for the valve seals and hopefully that should solve my prob.

dude you have to check your overflow level not your radiator level. your radiator will only loose water after it has sucked all the overflow back into the system. for a small head gasket leak you will start with a small white smoke when you start your car, then later if you have done nothing. anywhere from 2 months to 6 months, your car will start spitting out white smoke when you accelerate. if it gets to this point take it home and change the head gasket. or else the next thing is your car will push white smoke out all the time, by then, you are most likely to be getting hyrdolock. which is possible to bend a connecting rod and you having to either rebuild your engine or replacing it.

just to be safe, do the head gasket change anyways. it costs like $34.99 at autozone for my head gasket, i already own a torque wrench and i have the book and experience to do it , so if it were me, I'd take a Saturday and just fukin do it. heads aren't that hard to pull off they are just time consuming. you have to be gentle and take your time turning each head bolt in order like a 1/4 or 1/2 turn each in a specific bolt pattern order or you will chance cracking your head, then you have to slowly turn the bolts back in to put the head back in. the camshaft gear is also a hard thing to get to, and putting it back on is not exactly easy. its a $35 repair that can save you at least $1000 dollars in repairs later at least find a friend who knows about cars and pay him $100 to do the head gasket change, don't forget to serve him some beer or whiskey while hes doing it. i may take longer for him to do, but at least he will be happy doing it and it only cost you $135 that a shop would charge you $500-$700 depending on your car.
