I have a 2000 Galant GTZ, and it is Patriot Red. My Paint Problems are bizzare. The plastic parts are affected only...the spoiler shows signs of dulling, but its not bad... and the bumpers are ok. The big problms are the mirrors, and the door handles and door handle trim. It appears to me the clear coat in the problem locations is seperating from the paint. On rainy/wet days, followed by humidity, these parts of the car look very pale.... like there is fog between the clear coat and the paint. It has been doing this for about 2-3 years now. Last week, after a rain storm I noticed the mirrors moved beyond this, and now the clear coat is cracking and flaking off. It is still red, just not shiny. Once the air dries out, the other parts look normal again. Very weird... its like the clear coat is porous, and is becoming saturated with moisture. The paint on the rest of the car is immaculate, so it really stands out when it is wet. I wax my car couple times a year, and wash it every week or so. I think for me, I will have to get those specfic parts stripped and painted with with new clearcoat as well.

QUOTE(pizzaman76 @ Apr 8 2008, 02:33 AM) Yeah man I am going through the same problem with my car. First mine started on the hood of the car. So of course I chalked it up to being heat related due to the engine and stuff being there. Then I started noticing in on the trunk. Now it has spread all over my trunk, my hood, and the top of my roof. It is ridiculous! At first I thought maybe I wasn't waxing it enough or something. But I see people here whose Black Galant's that look TEN times worse than mine. Mine is still at the point that if I get it washed and waxed from a distance it still looks semi reasonable. But from close up everyone can tell it looks like crap. I think Mitsu ought to stand by there mistake and address this problem. 5k is alot of money to shell out on a new paint job when it's something the factory screwed up on to begin with. I would even go with them paying half of it. But this isn't a small problem based on what I'm reading here, and from what I've seen with my own eyes here in Baltimore. Let me know if anyone makes any progress with Mitsubishi regarding this matter.... Thanks...
