anything over $150 and your safe no matter what under it you may half to still watch out a bit thats a give or take a few dollars price. lets put it htis way. not all radar detectors detech the same radio wave therefore it wont pick up the cops wave but others so forth... well the one's over $150 and made in 05 are very safe for atlease another 2-years

about every 2-3 years cops change transmission waves

I had a Red Mustang Cobra for a semester, the exact sports car a cop would be looking for, but I had no trouble with them with the Valentine One. It's a little upper-scale, but you get everything you pay for...it even tells you where the cop or radar is, and they offer free updates through their website. The best I have ever seen, and the best for the money. Don't bother with Cobra, no offense, but if you had a 3 cyl honda, then go for it, but the Valentine is a step above the escort and way ahead of the others.

I know how radar detectors detect but in theory if you can detect them can't they detect you? With the new radar guns they are using the gun only Tx when the trigger is down. Since part of their training is to guess a cars speed within like 10mph, then they normally don't fire until they are pretty sure you are speeding anyways.

What about Laser Detectors, since laser is only LOS you are pretty much hosed there too???? :auto:

not really, i mean cops sumtimes get lazy and dont do everything by the book, like where i live these fat-**** cops they just sit there with there detector on and a donut in the other hand. sometimes leave it on when they drive around, and mostly all the time i detect them first before they detect my speed, oh, and one thing were im at in florida they starting to use KU bands, so watch out for that, lucky i got a detector that detects that band beltronic rx65. they work work but they also have there downs. i wouldnt bother buying those cheap detectors. they do suck.

Check this out if you haven't already. It list some of the better detectors and even explains why they one is better than the other.

Also the Escort 8500 X50 & Bel RX65 are the same as far as dectecting.

Two years ago, Escort bought out the Beltronics company, so now both companies are the same, with different divisions. They share the same office complex, their radar detectors are made in the same plant, and they share the technology.

Anyway you can read and find what's best for you in your price range.

Valentine 1 is the uncontested leader in detectors, but you'll pay huge for one (around $400). There are several that are very close and would likely save you $100 off the V1 price. People swear by 'the arrows' on the V1 which seems funny though because if a detector goes off the smart thing to do is slow down regardless where the waves came from.

Overall though, if they want to catch you all they have to do is be selective and sniper shot it.

id consider the sti driver by beltronics....

its 450 dollars but its the only radar detector that can mask every outgoing signal...
thus your invisible to cops....

ive got it, and its amazing....
