well Im not a 4G owner but I am 39. I was scheduled to test drive & buy an 06 eclipse GT manual with 30Kmiles for $13500 but then I saw an 04 Mazda RX8 with only 45k miles in the dark Titanium grey for $14k. Sorry guys but after a test in each it was a no-brainer to get the RX8. My 8 is simply an extension of my consious insulating me from the asphalt. Ive never driven a better handling/riding car bar-none, my built 1Gs and brothers corvettes and boxster included. The clipse is galant based and never stops plowing with understeer and tourqe steer in buckets. Plus the 8 fits real people in the rear seats and I dont have to lean forward to let them in. Both run to 60 in 5.9 sec w/ a low 14sec 1/4mi. so that was a wash, in fact on paper the clipse seems a better deal (getting an 06 clipse vs. 04 RX8 for the same price) but I cant wipe the smile off my face after driving the rx w/ its perfect 50/50 wieght dist. and oversteer on demand with the press of the throttle, not to mention the 9300 rpm redline  .
Not bashing I owned a 1G new in 1990 and owned 2 built 1Gs until 2004 when I bought a used 2001 Dodge Stratus RT (which is a 3G Eclipse) to commute in, so I am a mitsu man building my 1st 1G by word of mouth at the track before there was an internet to get advice from.
I drove a 350Z too before deciding but no back seats made my wife say no and I have grown kids so I didnt care but I didnt want to hear it from her. And the 350Z ride was wash-board harsh like my lowered 1G Eclipses and the front end plowed into understeer at way lower mph thru the same corners as the RX8. The RX8 was designed by race drivers and it shows by the stupid grin I cant get off my face.
