I am DESPERATE for a harmonic balancer for my 94 GT..... Any thoughts? A new one costs $270 from the dealer and takes 4 days... I know that the 92-96 Diamante are the same and the 91-96 Stealth and 91-99 DOHC 3000GT.. Any others that are compatible?

Sorry I missed the "this weekend" part, but I might be able to help you out now.

By harmonic balancer I'm assuming that your talking about the crank pulley, and the stock pulley has a rubber insert.

You can order new aluminum ones without the balancer from 3sx. underdrive or standard. Also, the stock ones tend to fail. the rubber will seperate and come out in chunks, or the pulleys actually break.

I've been running an aluminum pulley for a while now with no harm, and have hung out with many people that have been running them for many years.

Here's some interesting reading on under-drive pulleys:

Bah.

I've never heard of any engine failure related to a bad undampened pulley.

The stock pulley is a piece of shi t.

I've seen more stock pulleys fail than underdrive or regular aluminum.

People will now start argueing "blah blah blah, high mileage damage, blah blah blah, original engineers put it on there for a reason."

So before you do, I'm an engineer. I studied vibrations in dynamic systems at msoe. If you think that shi t peice of rubber is gonna save your engine, you deserve to run that stock peice of shi t pulley.

The only real dampener that should be on a car to stop vibrations is a fluid dampener. and unfortunately we don't have any. This would require making the pulley with a space for fluid in it, then seal it so it lasts for thousands of miles, and no one is willing to do this on a 3/4ths dead platform.

So, I take it that you're not a big fan of the Resonator Bottle as well.
