Car is a '02 Eclipse Spyder GT...

After installing a new AEM CAI my car is giving me problems. After removing stock system I dropped the mounting bracket. I know that particular component is delicate and I wonder if I've damaged it?? After the initial install the car didn't turn over, but after rebuilding the mount assembly the car started up fine.

Later that day it left me stranded, and upon rebuilding the same assembly in Wal-Mart's parking lot it started up for me.

Now, today it's not starting again and a 3rd attempt taking the same approach didn't work at all. The bracket (see attached pic) is not available at the local auto store, so I may have to get it from the dealer, BUT I'm not completely convinced that's the problem. I wonder if I've grounded it correctly. When I did have it running it was shifting rough andhad some hesitation on accelleration. That makes me think it's a sensor-related something.

I'm also not sure the exact name of the component. It's not the air sensor, it's white and connects a wire harness to the frame and another cable that I don't know what it is. Also, my stereo is disconnected now.

Until I can get this figured out I'm basically stranded and can't go to work tomorrow - crap! Any help is greatly appreciated.

ok....first thing. did you reset your ECU? if not, disconnect the battery for about 20 mins. after that time, reconnect the battery, start the car, and let it idle for about 15-20 mins. that should cure the idling and acceleration problems.

now looking at the picture....its hard to see what you are talking about? but whatever it is, its not a mounting bracket.

can you take a few more pictures from different angles?

do you have an automatic transmission?

Thanks, but that only worked for a day then it stopped again.

I was right what it was - it's called the neutral switch, and yes I damaged it when I dropped it. Heads up to everybody else - DON'T DROP THE DAG GUM THING! It's a sensitive component and controls quite a bit of mechanisms.

You can only get the part from the dealer and it was in the ballpark of $80 USD.

I took a few pics the other day, next addition is red sport wires carrying out the red/white theme...

LOL...i dont know what to tell you. the CAI is a very simple mod that does NO harm to the engine. try putting the stock intake back on and see if you continue to have problems
