what a freaking sled!!! i was very unimpressed with the car. granted, my expectations were low to begin with... but holy crap is that thing slow. i drove the auto cuz they didnt have any manuals and all the salesman claimed the auto was a little faster.... :thumbsdown but i guess im just comparing it to my car lol. but then, the fact that my friends focus is easily faster than the eclipse was a little disheartening too. but the best (worst) part is that the dealer wanted $31,000 for one fully loaded. but the same dealer had an EvoVIII for 35,000 .... ??? ok, who the **** would buy the eclipse when for 4 grand more you can get a car with 80 more hp, plus way more potential and AWD??

80 more HP? you must have drove the 4cyl. the v6 is rated at 263hp and the evo is at like 273hp

wow, i thought the evo's had 330ish, but i must be confusing that with the STi... thats crazy, and yes i did drive the GT V6. how is it then that the stock evo runs a 13 flat compared to the 14.2 for the eclipse? i know that AWD makes a difference, but given the very similar weight/power of the two... that shouldnt account for a whole 1.2 seconds...

Well, the 2000-2005 elcipse V6 did 0-60 in about 7 flat, and about 15.40 in the 1/4. The older Turbo Eclipse did 0-60 in about 6.4 and about 14.90 or so in the 1/4. The 06 Eclipse does 0-60 in 5.8, and 14.20 in the 1/4. I don't see how people can say that the car is not the same without the turbo of the 2nd gen. Let see, more power, better times, more refinded an a pleasure to drive. Being a former owner of a 98, I can say that this is a much nicer car.

A Focus? The SVT which was the fastest only did 0-60 in about 7.7 or so, and the 1/4 in 16!! How can you even compare????

As for the evo, it makes like 280 from the factory, and is fun to drive, but not really a great car to drive around all the time.

the STi only rated at 300hp.

how can I explain the difference in times? yes AWD makes that much of a different in track times. you can launch the evo at 5000rpms with no tire spin. this puts the turbo already in its boost range. you can only launch the eclipse at like 2500rpms or the tires will spin too much. also once the turbo spools, the evo will take off.

the focus was a saleen focus, which is still cheaper than the eclipse and it does 1/4 in 13.8 seconds.

and i guess the new eclipse isnt all that bad from what im reading lol, im just comparing it to my heavily modified eclipse :P which is a habit i tend to get into when driving any other car... even the $60k audi S4 with Quattro and a 335bhp V-8 seemed slow on the test drive lol

I just sold my 89 Conquest TSi. RWD, Big 16g, all the goodies, ran 12.49 The only problem was that it was nowhere as refined or as easy to drive as the new Eclipse. I am just waiting for the supercharger companies to come out with something.

well yes the n20 focus will do the 1/4 in 13.8 if you want to waste a half a tank of nitrous but without nitrous the svt will smoke the saleen ford racing did a much better job than the saleen in this case which suprised me.

Either way it is a focus. I had a ZX3, not a bad econo car, but not anywhere on the same level as an eclipse. Its like these guys who build a 12 sec civic, and try to argue that it is a better car than say a viper or vette.

oddly, enough... and maybe someone can help me out here... but why is the v6tt s4 which puts out 280bhp faster than the new v8 with 335bhp and the same freaking weight and drivetrain? im saying the v6 is faster, though, based on that i raced one on the highway and he was actually a little faster than i was... maybe he was modified or something  :offtopic:

I have no idea. I don't know much about the car other than being TT, awd, and 4 doors.
