im thinking about buying a new 2006 eclipse (gt) i have an old 99 mustang gt i know what your saying why? right well i was promised a new car if i got accepted into college plus my dads on one of those reliving his childhood though me kicks. anyway i was gonna get an 05 mustang but i think theres too many on the road i dont want alot of hp, because im the type that like to mod his car up to alot of hp anyway i test drove the 2006 eclipse and it had the same ride (as far as power) as my old mustang and then it had better handling so i have a couple questions any tips you guys got? what should i do as far as mods? what cars do you think are comparible to this car? ive seen on websites the rx-8 350z and 2003 srt-4 but i want to here what actual experts have to say.

you never know.....no major aftermarket company put out a turbo kit for the 3G eclipse. No major aftermarket company put out a set of headers for the 3G except for DC Sports....and that wasn't until this year....5 years after the car had been out.

if you get the 4bangger there is allready many after market parts for its 4g69 engine allso used in the lancer ralliart. Road//Race makes many. here are a few. ecu up grades, a turbo kit that adds 80hp and 100fpt light wieght under dirve pullys, ported and polished intake manafold, cold air intakes acc. and the list gos on. allso if you get the 4 with a 5 speed its allmost 100lb lighter than the gt V6 and thats a big differance.

I just test drove 2 eclpse a few days ago one was a GT auto and the other was a gs andthe gs would spin the tires off the line allmost as much as the gt. It was crazy how close they felt in power. the gt did have more pull once your were up in higher speeds though.

next time your at the mitsubishi dealership you should test drive a ralliart its got the 2.4mivec and the cars about 600lbs lighter than the new eclipse and its handling is alot better there is 0 body role. and if you dive the 5speed its a fast little car. its 1/4 mile time is faster than a sentra spec-v, tibaron v6,celica GTU, and a scion tc. I'm sure you would rather have a new eclipse for its sweet looks.if your going for peformance the ralliart would be the way to go. its got the same suspension and struts as the evo rs. it allso has the same 5 speed trans and awsome short throw shifter.
Just drive one and you will see what I'm talking about.
