as ive said before, sometimes when i accelerate after i turn on my car, it burns light blue smoke. well ive driven my car about 3000 miles since i bought it so i finally changed the oil filter, oil, and air filter today. after changing it, my oil pressure guage idles about 1 bar below the low bar across the guage, but when i rev my car while in neutral or when driving it jumps up, about to the low bar when at low rpms, and about half way between the low and high bar up the guage if i kick it up to about 5 rpms. is that normal? is it suppose to be higher?

OH NO!!!!

Not the stock gauge. It was obsolete in world war 1!!!!!!

there are a few things to try. first how many miles on the car? you can't expect to run an engine with a bazilllion miles on it with 10w-30. bump her up to 10w-40 or 15w 50.

second, you can crawl under the drivers side, and right above the front half shaft there should be two taps, one for the oil pressure light, the other for the pressure sensor for the gauge. make sure the gauge sensor has the wire crimped on tightly. looks like a funky hockey puck.

third, you can pull the sensor and try a gauge that will actually tell you something other than "2 ticks"

fourth, when was the oil pump replaced last?? that may very well be over due.

may be more. others can chime in...

its got 96,000 on it, i bought it with 93000 thousand but im not exactly sure the exact mileages they had stuff changed at, i know they had the 60k checkup done and i know they changed the oil 2 days before i bought it. i dont know the last time they had the pressure guage checked. and also i got a question about the transmission fluid. it was a tad bit low so i put some in there today but the tranny oil already in there was pretty much straight brown. does that mean i should take it somewhere to get it flushed? he said that i couldnt do it myself, and it would cost me about 60 bucks. that true?

I take it your car is automatic?? yes, have it flushed, it's about 60-70 bucks, it is worth it, you may even be able to see an improvement in performance with new fluid, if possible, try to get a synthetic tranny fluid, they probably wont be able to do it b/c the machine that flushes it already has fluid in it, but I am pretty sure it's reccomended to be changed every 30k miles..... I bought my VR4 used, and when I bought it, I took it to a shop, and had them change all the fluids in the car and do an injector cleaning on it, I was working 80+hrs a week at the time, and I simply had no time except to drop the car off, they charged me about $550 to change all that, manual trans fluid, transfer case, rear differential, injector cleaning, brake fluid, clutch fluid, ps fluid, and radiator.... it's a lot of money, but it's worth the insurance to me
